About Planet Briefing
Planet Briefing brings important developments from reliable sources into one clear global view. We help readers quickly understand what is happening, where it is happening, and why it may matter.
Important note
Planet Briefing may miss events or contain incorrect or delayed information. Do not rely on it as your only source for safety, financial, travel, or other important decisions. Always consult the linked original reporting and relevant official sources.
What we do
We collect source-based reporting, organize related updates into distinct events, and place those events on an interactive globe. Each event includes a concise summary, context about its significance, and links to the original reporting so readers can review the underlying information directly.
Our aim is to reduce information overload without removing important context. Events can be explored by location, category, relevance, and timing, making it easier to follow both major global developments and meaningful regional stories.
Methodology
We evaluate events on a 1–10 scale for confidence, geographic reach, global importance, impact magnitude, and urgency. These scores are based on the cited reporting and are intended to make events easier to compare—not to replace the original sources or provide a definitive judgment.
World and My places
World shows qualifying events worldwide and marks cities you follow. My places shows events inside the alert radius of any saved city. You can search for a city or use your current location to resolve and add your current city.
Registered users can save up to 10 cities, label them Home, Work, Family, Travel, or Other, choose a 10–500 km radius, and enable important-event emails separately for each place. Scheduled briefings can cover the World or My places.
Event assessments use AI-assisted extraction and scoring, followed by deterministic checks for useful source detail, timing, confidence, location, and impact context. A significant official alert may appear before full detail is available and will be identified as “Limited details — official update pending.” Related reports are grouped and alerts are sent again only for material updates.
Coverage includes established event categories and is being extended to power outages under Energy and resources, air quality and wildfire smoke, and major transport disruptions. Coverage varies by source and location and may be incomplete or delayed.
See our Privacy policy for how city-level preferences and browser location are handled.
Editorial process and corrections
Planet Briefing automatically selects events using documented relevance and quality criteria. Most summaries are generated automatically and are not individually reviewed before publication. Readers can report errors through our Contact page. Reports are reviewed when operationally possible, without a guaranteed response time. Material corrections may result in affected content being updated or removed.
Corrections policy
What readers may report
Readers may report suspected factual inaccuracies, incorrect dates or locations, misleading summaries, incorrect attribution, duplicate events, broken source links, or other material problems with published content.
How reports are evaluated
Reports are evaluated against the cited source material and, when available, updated information from the original source or another relevant official source.
Correction outcomes and disclosure
Confirmed errors may result in content being corrected, consolidated, or removed. When a correction materially changes the meaning of an important event or briefing page, a dated correction note may be added to the affected page.
How to submit a report
Use the Report an issue button on an event page to identify the affected content, or use the Contact page for a general correction request.
Corrections history
Important pages with a disclosed material correction may show the correction date and a concise description of what changed. No material corrections are currently listed.
List your events with Planet Briefing
If your website publishes reliable, publicly accessible information about events, alerts, or developments that matter to travelers and communities, Planet Briefing can help more people discover it in context. Eligible events may appear in our global view with clear attribution and a direct link to the corresponding event page on your website. These links can introduce your content to relevant audiences, increase its visibility, and generate additional referral traffic to your site.
Listing your source can extend the reach of timely information, connect it with the relevant location and category, and make updates easier for readers to find alongside related events. We can work with RSS, Atom, and supported APIs, subject to source quality, usage rights, and technical review.
Website owners and publishers are invited to contact us to share their source and discuss next steps.
