At the end of one of the longest summer heat waves Britain has ever known, storm clouds approach. It's obvious how scorched and parched the ground is, the park having been savaged by weeks of extreme heat and drought. Greenwich Park is just a short bus ride from where I live in London. It was not just the bleached grass that was shocking - many of the trees were already losing their leaves and younger trees looked seriously stressed.
