The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a warning for offshore waters from Surf City, North Carolina, to South Santee River, South Carolina, after radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts and 40-knot wind gusts. Boaters were instructed to move to safe harbor until the hazardous weather passed.
